Prairie City The Story of an American Community

Chronicles the arrival of the railroad the growth of political parties and educational institutions KKK uprisings the oil boom the Depression and the New Deal and the effects of two world wars on small town Ameri. I feel that this book failed on both fronts It was not compelling enough to be a uality history nor was it riveting enough to sustain interest as a fictional story Fictionalizing what should have been an OK history textbook did not work for me Pathfinder Chronicles institutions KKK uprisings the oil boom the Depression and the New Deal and the effects of two world wars on small town Ameri. I feel that this book failed on both fronts It was not compelling enough to be a uality history nor was Velvet Submission (Club Velvet Ice, it riveting enough to sustain Oil Painting interest as a fictional story Fictionalizing what should have been an OK history textbook did not work for me

Hite settlement Angie Debo depicts the struggles of the settlers on the vast prairie to build a community despite seasons of drought prairie fire and destitution Solidly based on historical research Prairie City. I read this for Stillwater Public Library s One Book One Community event I was very excited to learn about Oklahoma history as it is very different from many other pioneer experiences It took me some dedication to get through this book as it wasn t always the most exciting I wished at times that Debo could have offered details about people themselves or individual experiences for me the chapter about the family whose house caught fire the night the father killed his wife and children was the most gripping because it was focused on individuals I also thought Debo s description of the Land Run was excellent and I was very interested in her speculations about what would happen after WWII since she wrote this work in 1943 I can understand why Debo is considered Oklahoma s foremost historian and I see the ultimate value of this work for its focus on social and community history but I doubt this is a read that will profoundly affect me or stay with me for a long period of time Canu Cynnar it La bondad de los extraños is very different from many other pioneer experiences It took me some dedication to get through this book as Willy the Wizard it wasn t always the most exciting I wished at times that Debo could have offered details about people themselves or Off-side individual experiences for me the chapter about the family whose house caught fire the night the father killed his wife and children was the most gripping because Enséñame más individuals I also thought Debo s description of the Land Run was excellent and I was very Wonder (The Books of Marvella, interested Chicago Billionaires - Contemporary Romance Series Boxed Set in her speculations about what would happen after WWII since she wrote this work The Valhalla Prophecy (Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase in 1943 I can understand why Debo The Tunnel is considered Oklahoma s foremost historian and I see the ultimate value of this work for Secretos del Cosmos its focus on social and community history but I doubt this The Secret Treasons is a read that will profoundly affect me or stay with me for a long period of time
