Fall (VIP Book 3)

Om Clearly avoidance is key Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignorenot the way he makes me laugh or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun Neither of us believes in love or forever Yet were uickly becoming each others addiction But we could be We could be everything All we have to do is trust enough to fal. I read this first even though it is the 3rd book and absolutely loved it There is real depth to the characters and I ended up going back to read the first 2 books and then reread Fall again I had previously read Kristen other series set in Victorian times so this series was really different but I loved it just as much maybe It really gave me an insight into depression which I was previously ignorant of John and Stella don t make it easy they are scared to have a full relationship and seeing them work through their issues is both difficult and satisfying I can t wait to see what happens with Rye Whip and Brenna

And distracted that mint chip right out of his hands Okay it was a dirty move but desperate times and all that Besides I never expected hed be my new neighbor An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept kisses as payment An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar nakedspectacularly nakedin his living ro. Fall VIP book 3 by Kristen Callihan was the perfect contempory romance with a measure of drama serendipity and humour It s been a long time coming 2 years but it s the best in the series so far imo I felt it hightlighted acceptance and the strength of loveIf you ve read the fabulous books 1 2 you ll know Jax John Blackwood suffered from mental health issues However Kristen drew Jax as being multidimensional and a man who not only experienced highs and lows but normal moods too As a person John could be charming funny intelligent and flawed But like many creative artists he was brilliant driven and troubled wrestling with personal demons that pushed him into a deep sinking dark hole Stella Grey Button was a gem with a uniue personality uirky warm genuine and nurturing But she was also a firecracker a survivor sharp and very witty I loved her reactive moments yet she was also vulnerable had endured heartbreak and often existed behind a veneer Stella and John developed an honest and endearing relationship but spiced it up with suabbles banter teasing and smart cracks They both knew loneliness and got each other At times they tested one another over their own insecurities thoughKristen s writing was simply superb and she expertly unpacked this engaging and well thought out narrative The feel was powerful emotional sympathetic and deep Despite the mental health thread Fall was never unbearably sombre as Kristen balanced the realistic plot with tenderness light moments and plenty of clever humour Loved it I have a clean out of my elibrary every now and then but Kristen s books remain keepers it was good to read an author who uses the word homey instead of using homely incorrectly

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways In my defense I didnt know he was Jax Blackwoodwho expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries More importantly a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint chocolate chip Still I might have walked away but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream So I kissed him. Well this is disheartening There were many amazing and heartfelt moments in Fall and I completely adored the authors footnotes of her life reflected throughout this story However it felt like forever completing this book And I honestly don t get why but it took me days to finish thisFall was an honest depiction of the struggles of dealing with depression and anxiety This illness doesn t discriminate and regardless of your status we are all euals Jax Blackwood is front man of the hugely successful rock band Kill John Yet through all his accomplishments he is lonely Heartbreakingly so But it s all about to turn around after a hilarious encounter over the last mint ice creamStella Grey is an average girl just trying to get by in New York like thousands of others Surrounded by many she s still alone The chances of bumping into a celebrity isn t impossible but unlikely for a girl like her Yet when a surreal moment occurs life gets crazier when she finds herself neighbours with the thorn in her side John Jax BlackwoodThese two form an unlikely friendship John and Stella are like two sides of a tarnished coin Two people yearning to be seen and loved But putting themselves out there and risking their prides and hearts is the ultimate risk Except over time they do With each day they unveil a piece of themselves until they are completely whole againGah their interactions were touching and sweet which made me feel giddy and hopeful I don t want my review to sway you in not reading this book because I have no regrets However the pacing felt off and this book was possibly too long I wanted to read and finish John and Stella s story but I found myself procrastinating every time I picked it up Trust me I m disappointed in myself

It felt realistic in terms of actions and events between characters while also being a delicious rockstar read. Stella in particular really resonated as someone who is constantly giving and yet feels moments of real loneliness. The development of her rel
