Von einem grausamen Familiengeheimnis und tapferen Helden die nicht umhinkommen die Sagen ihrer Insel ernst zu nehmen In this story we meet some of Gerloff s wealthy neighbors on the island of land Vendela originally came from the island and has built a fancy home there with her boorish husband Max and for some unknown reason writes recipes and prepares all of the food for a cookbook that her husband will take credit for Sigh She is a great believer in fairies and elves which gets her into trouble than once Her most important thing is her aging dog Ally who irritates Max no end Their neighbors are Per a divorced teacher and Jesper his young son Both Per and Vendela are joggers and develop a friendship Pers estranged father Jerry has suddenly become a burden and an intrusion and threatens to upset the uiet life he has established In fact Jerry s past causes all manner of troubles that Per tries to sort out struggling to find meaning in Jerry s one word mutterings A damn good mystery with a good ending And of course Gerloff is is the middle of it all

    This did not keep me glued to the pages like the preceding Nattfåk but it was still a very good read More in the style of the first of the uartet Skumtimmen as the pace is a bit lower and the developments of the story take a bit of time The mystery in this one is also a bit abstract starting out seemingly unrelated or hardly related things starts to slowly come together and the whole discovery is of a numbe

    A very good book I like Theorin's style and his combining old Scandinavian legends with the current world The combination of elves trolls and porn might seem too much but they create an interesting counterpoint The only line I didn't like very much was the sick daughter Looking forward to The Echoes from the Dead

    I enjoyed The uarry I read Theorin’s novel The Darkest Room a few months ago and really enjoyed it so I wanted to check out of his work The uarry takes a while to get going and that’s the only real failing I found the first fifty or so pages a bit of a drag The pace eventually picks up and The uarry develo
