Dio accompaniment tracks that inspire rhythmic vitality and artistic expression Songs include Amazing GraceThe Can CanCatch a Falling StarDanny BoyEine Kleine NachtmusikThe EntertainerGreensleevesThe Lion Sleeps TonightandView Helpful Introductory Videos Her I picked this book up last week when I bought my brand new piano that I have no idea how to play I m an adult learner 38 years old and though I do have a musical background with guitar for over 20 years I have never ever not once taken a musical theory lesson in my life I started this book and found the earliest pages very basic it really starts you at the very bottom level If you ve listened to than a handful of songs in your life you ll likely also progress rapidly at first as it covers really basic things like 4 beats per bar and what that means About a third of the way through progress slows down as you start getting into the meat of it I thought they introduced concepts uite uickly with this book At first you start off one handed and no music to read just finger number diagrams but uickly you get full staves two hands hey chuck in a bit of pedal why not I liked that it made me feel I was moving forward and not dwelling in overly basic territory for too long Everything is clearly explained and I haven t really felt lost or confused yet when new concepts have been bought in The print itself is really good clear and easy to readThe music that you learn is okay for the most part At first it s a bit hit and miss and there will definitely be pieces you ll just skip over as uickly as possible because they re just not very fun to play nor very nice sounding or inspirational but this I found also picks up and by about page 50 which shouldn t take you very long the pieces actually become recognisable uality pieces of music arranged simply for beginner This is super important I ve found since the pieces that are enjoyable have had me stuck on them for 2 3 days whilst I work over them to get them sounding as good as I can before moving on The cringey nursery rhyme stuff is kept to a bear minimum and you ll be into things like Eine Kliene Nachtmusic and New World Theme before you know it With the stuff it s teaching me I feel like if I do pick up a teacher along the journey they won t hear me play and have a nightmare because I ve only learnt chords or my foundations are too weak I really think I m learning a solid strong foundation across all basesOverall I can really recommend this book I wasn t sure which books to go with out of this one Bastien or Alfred s In the end I chose this and Alfred s together though I m enjoying this one so much I haven t even picked up Alfred s yet The selling point for me was the supplementary books though realistically they ll suit anyone playing from any method book but either way I ve been very much enjoying this so far and already feel excited to see what s next and a drive to progress to Adults All in One Book 2 which if things carry on as now will be a no brainer I also recommend picking up the classical and popular supplementary books that go with this series again the music can be uite overly simplified and heavily truncated but it s just enjoyable to play and great for practising sight reading at early doors highlights from both for me would be O Mia Babbino Caro from Classical and Jurassic Park Theme from Popular How cool is that to be able to go from zero to playing those two things entirely self taught with these books in a matter of weeks I love it Decoding Roulette started this book and found the earliest pages very basic it
